SKF Bearings


Spherical Roller Bearings

SKF spherical roller bearings have industry-leading design and can accommodate heavy axial loads, in addition to heavy radial loads, acting in both directions.


Spherical roller bearings have two rows of rollers with a common sphered raceway in the outer ring and two inner ring raceways inclined at an angle to the bearing axis. This gives them an attractive combination of design features, making them irreplaceable in many demanding applications. They are self-aligning and consequently insensitive to misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing and to shaft deflection or bending.

Deep Groove Ball Bearings

Single row deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used bearing type. They are versatile, simple in design, non-separable, robust in operation and suitable for very high speeds, requiring little maintenance. Deep raceway grooves and the close conformity between the raceway grooves and the balls enable deep groove ball bearings to accomodate axial loads in both directions.

Spherical Plain Bearings

Spherical Plain Bearings are standardised ready-to-mount mechanical components that enable multi-directional, self-aligning movements. The inner ring has a spherical convex outside diameter, while the outer ring has a correspondingly concave inside diameter. The forces acting on the bearing may be static or may occur when the bearing makes oscillating or recurrent tilting or slewing movements at relative slow speeds.

Rod Ends

Spherical plain bearing rod ends are bearing units that consist of a spherical plain bearing in the eye-shaped head of the rod end housing. Ther are used primarily on the ends of hydraulic or pneumatic pistons to join the cylinder to an associated component.

INSOCOAT Bearings

Rolling bearings in electric motors, generators or associated equipment are at risk from the passage of electric current, which can damage the surfaces of rolling elements and raceways in the bearing and degrade the grease rapidly. The risk of damage (so-called electric erosion), increases greatly if a frequency converter controls the electrical machinery, which is becoming increasingly common.

An additional risk for high-frequency bearing current occurs in the application due to the inherent stray capacitances within the electrical machinery. To protect the bearings against electric current passage, SKF has developed INSOCOAT.


An INSOCOAT bearing is a very economical solution compared with other insulation methods to protect the bearing. By integrating the electrical insulation function into the bearing. SKF has been able to increase reliability and machine uptime by virtually eliminating electric erosion problems.


An INSOCOAT bearing is a standard bearing that has the external surfaces of its inner or outer ring plasma-sprayed with aluminium oxide to form a coating. The coating is sealed with a resin to protect against the conductive effects of water and moisture.


The basic coating can withstand voltages up to 1000 V DC. However, coatings that withstand voltages up to 2000 or 3000 V DC, can be supplied on request.

SKF CARB Toroidal Roller Bearings

SKF CARB Toroidal roller bearings combine the self-aligning capability of spherical roller bearings with the axial displacement ability of cylindrical roller bearings. CARB bearings can also have the compact cross-section and high load-carrying capacity normally associated with needle roller bearings.


CARB bearings are intended exclusively as non-locating bearings. They can simplify locating/non-locating bearing arrangements because thermal expansion of the shaft can be accommodated within the bearing virtually without friction. Bearing systems consisting of a spherical roller bearing in the locating position and a CARB bearing in the non-locating position, provide a space and weight-saving bearing system with a low cost of ownership.
